　　The Bank of England announced that Alan Turing will appear on the new 50-pound banknote on Monday. Mark Carney, the Bank of England Governor, said, “As the father of computer science and artificial intelligence, as well as war hero, Alan Turing’s contributions were far ranging and path breaking. Turing is a giant on whose shoulders so many now stand.”The character selection process for the new banknote began in 2018, when the Bank opened a six-week public nomination. Twelve candidates stood out from the 227,299 nominees, and Governor Carney made the final decision.The banknote is expected to enter circulation by the end of 2021.

　　日前，据英国ITV、BBC等多家媒体报道称，英格兰银行行长马克·卡尼宣布，英国著名科学家、计算机科学和人工智能之父艾伦·图灵成为英国50英镑新钞人物。

　　目前的50英镑纸币上，一面印有英国女王头像，另一面是两位工业革命的先驱——蒸汽机先驱詹姆斯·瓦特和马修·博尔顿。
